The Mountain View Middle School performing arts department entertained and impressed at their annual Winter Concerts.
Under the direction of Mr. McMurray, Choral ensembles (Junior Chorus, Senior Chorus, and Mountain View Singers), along with the multi-grade Orchestra performed on December 12. Selections included holiday classics, such as the “Nutcracker Suite” and modern pop selections, such as “Never Ending Story.” Solists included Stephanie Lau and Saya Neff (Orchestra) and Allison Jeffreys, Adeline Perkins, and Alexa Bayer (Chorus).
The Junior, Senior, and Advanced bands performed at Mendham High School on Wednesday, January 22. Junior Band selections included “Starsplitter Fanfare.” The Mountain View Advanced Band, an audition-only ensemble, performed “Blazing Clarinets.” The Senior Band made up of seventh and eighth graders, impressed the audience with two numbers. “Full Circle,” the concert finale, was performed by a combined ensemble of Senior Band and select fifth and sixth-grade musicians. Additional solo performances included “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” performed by sixth-grader Josh Simonsen on the Alto Sax and seventh-grader Brianna Simpson, who performed an original arrangement of “Alleluia” on the flute.
Next up for Mountain View’s talented performing artists is the annual Festival of the Arts event, scheduled for May 28.
